When to choose relaxation massage

This is the right fit when:

  • Stress has left you tense, tired and not sleeping well
  • You want to unwind rather than have deep work done
  • You are new to massage and prefer a gentler introduction
  • You need an hour to properly switch off

If you have a specific injury or deep chronic tension, deep tissue or therapeutic massage may serve you better, and your therapist can guide you.

What to expect in your session

The pace is slow and the pressure is lighter than deep tissue work. Your therapist uses long, gliding strokes and gentle kneading to settle the muscles and calm your breathing. Most people leave feeling loosened, lighter and noticeably calmer. There is usually no soreness afterwards, so you can head straight back into your day, ideally a little slower than you arrived.

Common questions about relaxation massage

Is relaxation massage covered by insurance?

Yes, when it is provided by a registered massage therapist, which all of ours are. We direct bill most extended health plans.

How is it different from deep tissue?

Relaxation massage is gentler and calming; deep tissue is firmer and focused on releasing stubborn tension. You can also ask for a blend of both.

How often should I book?

As often as it helps. Some people come monthly to manage stress, others whenever they hit a rough patch.
